At Madison County Fish and Game, we’re always looking for ways to improve our facilities and keep the spirit of trapshooting alive. That’s why we were thrilled to announce the completion of the renovation of our traphouse — a vital update to our traprange that will help ensure our club remains a premier destination for trap shooting enthusiasts.
While the traphouse itself may be a replacement of the old concrete structure rather than a new addition, this renovation represents something much more: a commitment to preserving the tradition of our club and elevating the experience for our members. And who better to mark the occasion than our longest-standing members, Ken Berger and Dave Coverdale?
Ken and Dave are true pillars of Madison County Fish and Game. Both have been with the club for decades and have seen it evolve into the vibrant community it is today. Their passion for the sport and their dedication to the club have left an indelible mark on everyone who’s had the privilege of shooting alongside them.
With well over 100 years of combined shooting experience, these two men have witnessed countless changes in trap shooting technology and techniques, but through it all, their love for the game and the friendships it has fostered have remained constant. So, when it came time to break in the newly renovated traphouse, it seemed only fitting that Ken and Dave should fire the first shots.
While the traphouse itself may look similar to its predecessor at first glance, the improvements are substantial. The old concrete structure has been completely replaced with a modern, reinforced foundation and updated design that will improve safety, reliability, and functionality. The renovation also includes better drainage and a more efficient system for reloading the trap machine, as it is large enough to stand up straight inside.
While the updated traphouse may seem like a small change on the surface, it represents much more than just a structural improvement. It’s a reminder that Madison County Fish and Game is built on a foundation of tradition, community, and passion for the sport. Ken and Dave have embodied these values for decades, and their contributions to the club have helped shape the welcoming environment we have today.
A big thank you to club Trustee Todd Kistler, who performed the renovation project, and to Ken and Dave, whose contributions to the club have made this moment possible. The first shots fired from the newly renovated traphouse mark the beginning of a new chapter for Madison County Fish and Game, and we’re excited to see what the future holds.
